Synopsis for Light light light (Valoa valoa valoa):
A girl named Mimi arrives to a small village in western Finland and immediately fills 15-year-old Mariia’s life with light. 20 years later, Mariia returns home to take care of her sick mother, and memories of that meaningful summer start to rise again.
Detailed description of the couple (likely to contain spoilers)The two girls start by becoming somewhat friends. Both are fascinated and unexplicably attracted to each other. Early in the movie, the two girls kiss and start their adventures as a couple. Most of the story happens in the summer, and we see them hugging, kissing and cuddling in the forest or swimming together in the lake. They help each other to deal with their personal problems, especially with their families. The time jumps from the adult Mariia to the teenager shows Mimi as this dreamlike figure, who she still hasn't gotten over. To me, this movie is a very beautiful representation of a young sapphic couple. They never adress their queerness, they're just two girls in love that try to overcome their struggles. Mimi dying at the end was too bad, but it made sense for the story and as Mariia's character finally crys out for the deer and for her lost love, the audience can feel that same sorrow.
