Detailed description of the couple (likely to contain spoilers)As a newly joining member of a university dorm, Kamiina Botan looks for the resident assistant, Ibuki, and finds her drinking on her own. Ibuki is embarrassed and reveals that she doesn’t like to drink around others because of her hiccups, which she has been told are obnoxious. Botan reassures Ibuki that she doesn’t mind and she hiccups when drinking sometimes as well. Ibuki soon comes to trust Botan and be comfortable drinking with her. Their relationship grows closer and Botan seems to become somewhat flirtatious and suggestive when drunk. They grow closer with many moments of intimacy throughout the show, and Ibuki eventually expresses concern that there are only a finite number of times that two people can drink together as friends. They then agree to stop being friends. Botan sometimes worries that Ibuki only likes spending time with her drinking alcohol, and that their relationship doesn’t really extend beyond drinking for Ibuki. In a hotel room that Ibuki booked for them with the beds pushed together, Botan asks what they are if they aren’t friends, and tries to kiss Ibuki. Ibuki pulls away and says she isn’t ready. Botan thinks she misread their relationship, but Ibuki shows her two matching pairs of earrings which they had looked at before, and explains she wanted to pierce each others’ ears first. The next day Botan mentions that in some time they probably won’t be in the same place anymore, and Ibuki suggests that they make sure to still be in together in the future, which Botan agrees to.
